| Customer Reviews: FR Bosch 53514-RT 14.4 Volt Planer January 28, 2008 Kevin Knowles (houston) No more than I use this and the low price I paid it works great. If I used it more I would prefer electric.
good price for a cordless planer June 16, 2007 Charles Robb 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Into the body of the tool was branded RECON, about 1/2" in length. Says a lot about what Bosch thinks it will hear from customers about this reconditioned tool. The tool had minor scratch indicating that it had actually been used/tested. I removed the blade and examined it on both sides (the blade is reversible) and had been replaced as part of the reconditioning process. I adjusted the blades and plates and made sure everything was square. I looked at the tool from different directions and it didn't look square. After closer inspection, it became apparent that it wasn't the cutting edge/guide, it was the plastic casing of the tool that wasn't aligned. The stop bracket that came with the tool is too inaccurate to be useful and should be discarded. Still, if you aren't bothered about the casing not being square with the blade and have use for a cordless planer, you can't beat this price, though with only one battery, you might want to plan on just throwing the tool away when the battery wears out.
Like new..works better than I thought it would May 24, 2007 C. Malone (Houston, Texas) I was in the market for a power planer and had looked at cheaper options on Harbor Freight when I found this on Amazon. I was a little unsure being 14.4 volts if it would have enough power but it seems to work great. I figure for an extra $40 over the cost of a generic planer I get a bosch and a 14.4 volt battery system to add a drill or jigsaw to later.
